"Hungarian Women in the Revolution, Hungarian Women in the world" Exhibition on March 8th, 2025
Visitors were coming and going at the Örly Museum for the exhibition “Hungarian Women in the Revolution, Hungarian Women in the World.”
On International Women’s Day, a third-generation pastor couple, Indian university students, young Hungarian Americans, middle-aged attendees, and Americans interested in Hungarian history, culture, and traditions explored the interactive display honoring the wives and widows of the revolutionaries of 1848.
They lingered in front of the bilingual panels showcasing American and Hungarian women artists, browsed volumes of Petőfi and Kossuth, or relaxed in the lounge area, where they listened to revolutionary songs and watched clips about extraordinary women’s achievements in recent history. They also heard the stories of the museum’s founding sisters, Ilona and Elvira Örly.
The exhibition was conceived and curated by Éva Szabó, the museum’s executive director.
